We are used to everything american being bigger and better and american motorhomes are no exception to this rule. Much longer than British and European models they can sleep more people and afford more luxurious appointments than their European counterparts. They also frequently have sides which extend while parked to make the accomodation even bigger. Separate bedrooms and bathrooms make them seem more like mobile hotels than camper vans. They do have a couple of potential disadvantages being left hand drive they are not suitable for UK only holidays and being much longer than the usual motorhomes they may not be able to negotiate some of the narrower roads in Europe. However if you intend to visit a number of Euopean countries and will be sticking to the major routes there is no better vehicle. The air con will be welcome when you arrive in the hotter countries and the hot air central heating will be handy for those going near the artic circle. Cooking facilities are more than adequate and eating outdoors and in the vehicle will not be a hardship. Fuel consumption could be a problem although more and more now come with diesel engines to help with this.
